It genuinely brings tears to my eyes knowing just how much of a difference artwork can make for important causes... From day one, my main goal as a wildlife artist has been to bring awareness to important topics in wildlife conservation. My hope was to create artwork that attracted the attention of people with the same goals to crate magical collaborations! I feel so lucky and honored to be involved in the biggest, most important project Wild Planet Creations has done to date!
We are collaborating with the animal rescue, Raptor Center of Tampa Bay to create a BOOK!
This book is inspired by a massively successful puppet show the Raptor Center puts on about the struggles 14 different Florida animal species face nearly every day. At the end of the show, each animal talks about ways we can make a difference by making a few small, but important changes in our every day lives!
I met representatives of the Raptor Center of Tampa Bay when I attended the Florida Birding and Nature Festival back in October. I was surrounded by all kinds of incredible people - non-profit organization employees, animal rescue representatives, other wildlife artists, wilderness photographers, native plant gardeners, birders, naturalists, scientists - I felt right at home! The Raptor Center was stationed right behind me, which was so cool because they brought their Cara Cara (a beautiful falcon species) for a show and tell!
They invited me to attend their annual Wonders of Wildlife Festival as a vendor in November, which I obviously couldn't pass up! Wildlife-centered shows are officially some of my favorite ones to attend :) But long-story-short, it was incredible! Shortly after the festival, the president of the Raptor Center contacted me about a book, and the rest is history.
I can't wait to take you along on the journey to creating each piece of watercolor artwork to fill the pages of this book! From planning, sketching and painting to actual publishing, you will be able to see it all!
Once again, thank you for taking the time to read this blog post and stay caught up in news about Wild Planet Creations. Your care for wildlife and conservation is the reason why I keep doing what I do.
