Since moving to Florida in August, 2022, Wild Planet Creations has been working around the clock to become involved in Florida wildlife and habitat conservation. One way we are doing this is by learning about and supporting regional wildlife conservation organizations/charities! One of the top Floridian wildlife conservation non-profit organizations that stood out to us was Conservation Florida.
For Nature. For People. Forever.
This is the slogan for the non-profit organization, Conservation Florida. This organization is rooted in a deep love for Florida, and all of its wild habitats, from coastal mangrove ecosystems to bayous and swamps hidden deep in the heart of the state. From Pensacola in the north all the way to the southern Florida Keys, Conservation Florida has led the way in strategic and evidence-based land protection since being founded in 1999. And guess what, the founder of Conservation Florida, David Carr, was the son of one of the "Fathers of Conservation Biology"! How cool is that?
Conservation Florida saves wild landscapes by facilitating, purchasing, or accepting donations of land and conservation easements, serving as a trusted community partner to support statewide land conservation, and through effective advocacy, education, and outreach programming. With such an emphasis on protecting Florida's ecosystems, they know how important it is to keep people and their communities at the heart of their actions.
One of the most cutting-edge mission of Conservation Florida is their focus on Florida wilderness connectivity. The Florida Wildlife Corridor, a mosaic of protected wilderness that is interconnected by strips of land either privately or commercially owned, contains millions of acres spanning the state! This new age way of managing land and wildlife is no longer just a vision of a few conservationists, but a plan for saving land that supports all life, including humans! They even funded the early science and mapping efforts that brought the Florida Wildlife Corridor to life!
For all of these reasons, Wild Planet Creations will be donating 10% of all proceeds from January - March, 2023 to Conservation Florida! We hope you are as excited about supporting this organization as we are! We will keep you updated on how much money we raise for Conservation Florida as time goes on.
