This archival giclee fine art print is of an original watercolor painting called "Life Force" featuring a mother alligator and her striped hatchling experiencing an adorable interaction with a zebra longwing butterfly for the very first time.

Alligators are the epitome of resilience. Just a few short decades ago, alligators were relentlessly hunted to near extinction in Florida for their hides that were used to make leather goods. Their saving grace was being placed under the protection of the Endangered Species Act and the populations rebounded beautifully! From less than 100,000 individuals in the entire state, there are now 1.3 million alligators! Their success story is a testament not only to how important the Endangered Species Act is, but also to how incredible alligators really are.

This is the first edition print release of this beautiful painting! There are only ten 11"x14"prints available in this edition as well as only ten 16x20" prints.

All prints are made with high-quality watercolor paper, and are printed with archival, museum-quality ink. Each print is hand numbered, named and signed by the artist.

It took a three full weeks for Samantha to complete this incredibly detailed, yet whimsical painting. She primarily used Winsor and Newton professional series watercolor tube paints (as well as a few Daniel Smith tube paints) on cold press, acid free, 300 gsm Blick watercolor paper.

Samantha ensures pristine delivery via a well-insulated, sustainably-sourced mailer. These prints also come with a hand signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity with gold detailing.

Any watermarks on the photographs used in this listing are purely to ensure that someone (or AI) does not steal the artwork illegally. The watermarks do not exist on the actual painting. Also, the images used in this listing are not high resolution and don't live up to the actual painting.

This painting is one of many that were created for a children's book titled "I Can Save the Planet" for the non-profit organization, Raptor Center of Tampa Bay. The book is set to release in 2025! Stay tuned! Also, 10% of profits will go directly to the Raptor Center to aid in the thousands of birds and animals they help rescue and rehabilitate each year.

All art is the property of artist Samantha Dormio and may not be reproduced or resold in any form.
